Refuting More Atheist Nonsense

A friend brought these to my attention. Below are my responses, slightly edited and expanded upon.

"Heaven" isn't the "assembly of the Lord". The assembly was something on earth. I had to look at a couple commentaries to get an idea but it seems the "assembly of the Lord" was a group of leaders/elders in Israel's temples. This "assembly" would no longer even exist because all of that was done away with after Christ's crucifixion.

The only thing that determines whether you go to Heaven, is faith in Christ as your Lord and Savior. A belief that a human can do anything to save themselves, without God's help alone, is a heresy called works salvation.

I'm too lazy right now to look at all those "kill" verses but I looked up Ezekiel 18:4 and it doesn't command people to kill sinners. That very idea goes against all of God's teachings. (Ezekiel 18:32, Matthew 6:12, 2 Peter 3:9, Exodus 20:13, etc.) What Ezekiel 18:4 actually says is this: "Behold, all souls are mine; the soul of the father as well as the soul of the son is mine: the soul who sins shall die." This is stating a fact. A soul that sins will die. It's not a command from God to go kill anybody, it's a warning not to sin.

By the way, Leviticus 24:17 is basically just the death penalty, not "kill anyone who kills anyone". This wording is misleading. If someone commits murder (kills without a very good reason for it), they should be punished with the death penalty. However this too is irrelevant now because it's Mosaic Law. This was only meant for ancient Israel in the time before Christ's crucifixion.

Maybe someday I'll look up the rest and refute those as well. For now though, I think this should be plenty to tell you "A. Stout" is a blithering toddler at best, and a malicious liar with a personal agenda at worst. I did notice in the "source" (which I censored) he was trying to peddle some book he wrote, so...

May God bless and guide you according to His perfect will! In Jesus' name. Amen.
